No I didn't assign 3 points to charisma because that sounded cool. I've been playing tabletop RPGs for decades, so I already knew how useless that attribute was. ^_^

Originally by: Sertan Deras What? What you said makes no sense. "The overall SP will be the exact same as it was before, over a long enough time period". Well no kidding Dr. Einstein. Yes, over a long enough period, a newbie can indeed get back to 800K SP. Just like they can eventually get to 2M, and 5M, and 10M, and 20M....you know, over a long enough period of time.
No, what he's saying is that you'd reach 1.6M SP after the same amount of time as with the old 800k system. Difference is, with the NPE a player can get there _EVEN FASTER_ by focusing on learning skills.
OMG, they boosted the n00bs!

Perhaps, but that doesn't change that he's right IMO. It's been obvious to me and a lot of others from the start that the changes are 'a good thing'[tm].
Stop thinking about SP and your alts, and instead imagine how the first couple of weeks will be for NEW players.

Originally by: Syekuda I have to agree with Vyktor here, when I train people to play the game, at one point or another, I always say to train the learning skills. The reason is obvious of course but for them there clueless because they don't know the game and those skills.
So... does everybody hate the learning skills?
No, I kinda like them, even back when I had to train them. It gave me the feeling that I was going for the long-term.
Also, I kinda disliked them. But still, the skills themselves aren't the problem. The _REAL_ problem are people like the GP who insist newbies max them out before they are allowed to start enjoying the game.
So; STOP THAT AND DON'T GO TELLING NEWBIES THEY NEED TO MAX OUT LEARNING SKILLS IMMEDIATELY.
It ruins the fun of the game.
Edit: Since there's so much confusion about how to best go about training the learning skills, perhaps you should include it in the NPE? Advocate a balanced approach where the character should consider training a couple of levels now and then, to avoid having others insist that everything needs to be trained asap.

Why are people insisting that a new character should be able to fly a tackling frigate within 24 or 48 hours? Is there really something about flying tackling frigates that define everything that is good and proper for a person new to EVE.
